Michelle Bottomley


Michelle J. Bottomley has 25+ years of experience growing businesses via customer-centricity with world-class branding, digital and data-driven marketing. Michelle serves as an Independent Director for the Society for Human Resource Management, Bose Corporation, and Own the Room, a training and e-learning company. She serves on Boards where digital, brand differentiation and a compelling customer experience are central to growing and future-proofing the company.

Michelle's operating experience includes P&L management for a $10m west coast e-commerce company, a $250m fee revenue professional services firm ($2B billings. She has stewarded business transformation through modern marketing as CMO for Barclaycard - the fifth largest credit card company in the world, CMO for Mercer - the world's largest human capital consultancy, Staples - the fifth largest US e-commerce site, and New York Life - the largest US mutual life insurance company. Michelle's career began in professional services with leading roles at Digitas (formerly Bronner Slosberg Humphrey), Epsilon and Ogilvy.

Michelle has been honored with recognition as one of "New York's Most Influential Women in Marketing" by Agency Spotter in 2019, the "Marketing 50" by World 50, the "Marketing Hall of Femme" by Direct Marketing News, a "Women to Watch" by AdAge, and "Working Mother of the Year" by Advertising Women of New York.  She is a member of the Women's Forum of New York and the Executive Forum.

Michelle is a graduate of Northeastern University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She attended Boston University where she pursued courses toward a Ph.D. in Economics.
